St. Mary's Catholic Church at 960 Missouri Avenue, Vernonia, Oregon — St. Mary of Immaculate Conception. We are a welcoming parish family in the heart of the Nehalem Valley.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or have been part of our parish for years, we invite you to worship with us and become part of our community.
It is a privilege of priests to lead others in prayer, to pray for others, to lift intentions before the Lord, and to entrust others to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are introducing the "Pray for Me" Ministry to establish a stronger community in faith and support in our cluster of parishes here in rural Washington County of North Plains, Roy, and Verboort. We invite you to share your prayer intentions--your joys and sorrows, your worries and thanksgiving, or all that rests quietly on your heart. Your submitted intention will be prayed by the clergy (Bishop Steiner, Fr. Michael, Fr. Augustus, and Fr. Rayappan) during our time of prayer. Remember, the power of prayer changes lives. "Pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective." (James 5:16) Please be respectful in the intentions you submit. Prayer request that include offensive or inappropriate language will be removed.
Our volunteers are the heart of our parish. From the friendly smiles that welcome you to Mass on Sundays to educating and providing fun activities for our youth, to serving lunch or assisting you at our annual Quilt and Crafts Fair, as well as all the essential unseen duties that make your visits and worship meaningful.
2026 Annual Quilt & Crafts Fair will be held Friday and Saturday, September 18 and 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch served until 2 p.m. Quilters and crafters near and far sell their homemade treasures at this annual event. Contact us to sell in next year's Quilt & Craft Fair. No cover charge to browse! Just come and enjoy. We always raffle an amazing Star of David quilt, made by one of our parishioners, Solange Headrick. Be sure to get your raffle tickets!
Our quilters quilt together every Tuesday, January through July, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Anyone interested in quilting are welcome to join us. Whether you wish to learn or have experience quilting, it’s more fun with others. Everything you need to quilt is provided. Just bring a lunch.
Children’s Religious Education (RE Program, Grades 1-5) and activities are held Fall (after Quilt & Craft Fair cleanup) through Spring, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sunday before Mass. Newcomers are always welcome.
